Sometimes you gotta spend money to save money. From delivery apps to memberships - over 500 million Americans use household deliver memberships.

Have you been on and off Amazon Prime and not really seen much value? Here are our favorite ways to save serious dough.

Many people are still new to Walmart+ which launched in September of 2020 not too long after the pandemic. An immediate response to the demand seen during COVID, Walmart+ hopped on board the membership train to offer delivery from local stores, member gas discounts, pharmacy savings and more for $98 a year.

Amazon Prime the most popular by far - in comparison is slightly more expensive. However, the OG of delivery memberships offers a wider swath of goods plus streaming, and fast shipping. For bulk items and staples consider the value of Amazon Fresh which is included in the cost of Prime with free delivery for orders $150+.

Instacart+ is great for those in a pinch who have immediate needs or travel often where your location isn’t as regular. Think of last minute purchases to your hotel during work travel or a busy family who needs a virtual assistant. With Instacart+, you’ll receive free delivery on orders over $35 and 5% credit back on pickup orders for $99 a year.

Similarly DoorDash’s Dash Pass is $9.99 per month and gets you free delivery on orders $12+. If you’re between the two, consider the average retail cost of your orders and which provider is more available in your neighborhood.

Moving on from grocery delivery mixed with personal care items, Uber One for $9.99 a month will give you $0 delivery fees and 5-10% off. Are you getting hungry?

So if you leave in a major city where picking up groceries ends up being the same cost as takeout - this is an offer to truly consider. Promotions also stack if you often take Uber - so we’re looking at you Manhattanites or big city or people who never drive.

Now if you’ve been reading for some time, you probably already know we’re Costco superfans. The Wealth Elf…plus everyone else who enjoys incredible returns on COST stock.

From their signature $5 rotisserie chickens, to bulk pricing on household goods that are unbeatable - you can enjoy all the perks for $60 per year as a Gold Star Member.

If your Costco has a gas station, the membership will pay for itself in no time. In fact they recently just changed their hours at the pump which has been generating headlines.

Now beyond large quantities of brands you know and love - Costco also offers their Kirkland Signature products which are highly regarded for quality (clothes, food, batteries, vitamins etc) and often outperform national brands in reviews. We also love their frozen food section for different selections than your everyday grocery retailer.

Similarly, Sam’s Club is excellent for bulk buying and offers their own private label goods. It will probably come down to which club is available near you if you were to decide between a Sam’s and a Costco. For $50 a year at Sam’s Club you can enjoy bulk groceries and personal care products, tire services and savings on travel.

Keep in mind that Sam’s Club’s roots are supporting small businesses. So you’ll notice products for families or businesses to buy in bulk and save per unit.
